What a title lol. So I made an unboxing video of this month's Dinosaur Dracula Funpack. It's a rather long video as I gush about how much I adore his website lol. So skip to 8:40 if you want to just see the "goods".
If you guys like this, please let me know here or on Youtube. I'll do monthly unboxing videos if you guys really like them, otherwise I'll just stick to Sept and Oct unboxing videos.
So I've been not really feeling this year. There's not a lot of decorations I'm after and the food I've seen is mostly repeats of last years foods. There are a few new foods mind you but they're harder to find and are so-so on taste. I started my mood table but even it's half finished. As if it's a statement about this meh season.
That's the main reason I haven't posted much this month...just lack of stuff. And a very meh feeling.
But I do have two videos worth of items so...not horrible.
In something new, I took pictures. Easier then making a video but I'm wondering if it's as interesting?
Anyways here's some pictures of the first Autumn/Fall/Halloween decorations I saw at my Fred Meyer's...as well as a blackberry pie me and my mom made from blackberries in our backyard (the heart was my idea!).
Doesn't look great but tasted amazing!
Some outside decorations.
These were hidden back in the empty housewares area...as the mat says...spooky.
Random Autumn items. Liked the glass blown pumpkins.
The Foxes were adorable and I wanted one!
And the first Halloween magazine!
So hopefully that was of interest?
I also had an idea...when I'm not reviewing my normal weird limited edition foods...why not try my hand at reviewing food that I ate when I was a kid...that's still around in some shape/form? Like Lunchables or Kid Cuisine? Going to call it Nostalgia Bites. Bought a load of Lunchables actually because I didn't realize how cheap they are (great for a snack!) so yeah...it's happening!
So it's been awhile! Lot of stuff has happened...not all of it good.
The good would be I joined a local D&D group! Who would have guessed. I was never really into that part of the geek universe...but I wanted to get out of the house and practice talking to people and this helps. I also wanted to make friends but...it's not going that way. No one is interested in that sadly. Group isn't that friendly...but I like the game so I stick with it.
The bad would be house troubles...and money troubles...not mine...but my parents and in some ways mine as it effects me.
But not much I can do to change that so...I have been working around the house helping my parents...long days...up at 9 am and stop for an hour of lunch then back at it till 6...you'd think we would be done with all that time invested but nope...it's endless.
Anyways, enough doom and gloom. Just saying why I haven't been able to really update...that and I haven't had a lot of food hauls as I said in my last post.
But to bring in Autumn, I want to send off Summer with my Summer food finds. I've already recorded my first Autumn/Halloween pickup so...plan on seeing that soonish.
So back when the Master Edition was up for pre-order, I ordered it. I shot a video of myself unboxing it because why the heck not. This was and still is my first and only Switch game. I still haven't gotten a Switch...waiting this Winter, I think they might make some sort of bundle deal for Christmas. Maybe bundle a game with the system or something. I was hoping they'd make a Zelda edition console but since they're selling console "skins" to put on the consoles...I doubt they're going to make limited edition consoles. Shame.
And with that, I'm all caught up on my video backlog. No more videos...I haven't been getting any food hauls, just random foods...usually holidays are when you end up getting a lot of limited edition foods. I'm thinking about doing a summer food haul if I can get enough weird foods together.
Speaking of Candysan, I got a package of "Moe" themed treats from them a while back and shot a video of it...and never put it up on here. So here it is!
A little info on "Moe". Moe is a slang term that basically means strong feelings of attraction to characters in anime/manga/video games. Moe can also be used in the sense of sexual attraction. Which is what these packages are trying to provoke in people.
As I say in the video, I'm not into the sexual side of Moe stuff. I'm transgender and gay which means I'm into men not women. So this stuff doesn't "excite" me like it's meant to. It's made for male consumers, not female (unless your gay) and straight males at that. I just think Moe stuff is super cute.
If you want to learn more about Moe I suggest Googling it lol.
So awhile ago I got a package from Candysan that had a box of Iceberg Curry in it. I was holding off on eating it while I did my diet but now that I've stopped, I'm eating as much of the Japanese snacks as I can since I'll be going back on a diet after I talk to my GI specialist and nutritionist.
Now about that update. Sorry I haven't posted anything...my computer is sucking up all my time lol. I've also been busy helping my parents out around the house. I have quite a few videos waiting to be put on here...including holiday ones...urg. Better late then never? I'll try to remind myself to post more on here...
Anyways I thought I'd comment on the curry.
Now I know how it looks but, don't judge a book by it's cover. Literally since it's supposed to look like this.
So since I can't read Japanese and the site didn't have much info on this, I'll just copy and paste the info they do give.
"This curry comes straight from Hokkaido in northern Japan. This
combination of blue and white curries reproduces the ice of northern
Japan in winter. The color of the curry is obtained from natural
ingredients. This is the only natural blue curry in the world, and
Candysan is the first official partner of the manufacturer to sell it
"This curry with fruit is not sweet. It remains spicy with a good curry taste. Adding fruit sweetens the dish a little, giving it a fruity aftertaste and a delicate fragrance. Japanese curry with fruit is known to be generous and use good quality ingredients."
I'll be grading this on texture, taste, smell and appearance.
I should note that the box came with two packets. One the blue, was the
curry "sauce" the other; the white; was a thin and watery cream sauce
with chicken in it.
Appearance - F
As you can see from my picture and the picture on the box, the appearance is way off. The box curry looks thick but fluffy, rich and creamy and the color is much brighter. The real curry is thin and off color. The actual curry part was thicker then the chicken sauce but not as thick as the box makes you think. The white sauce was also having issues with separation. As you can see in my picture some of the oil was floating to the top.
Smell - C
"Delicate fragrance" Another lie. It smelled like packaged curry sauce...nothing new.
Taste - B
This is where the curry wins honestly. The taste is great. It's spicy but not OMFG MY MOUTH IS ON FIRE like most curry's that are labeled as "spicy" are. I'd say if normal spicy curry is a spice level 5, and curry they feed to kids is a 1, this curry is a 2.5 or possibly a 3. It was hot enough to tingle my mouth but not burn it like most spicy food does. Though I have no doubt I'll have heartburn later.
Anyways the taste. It's spicy, you can taste the curry and spices they used, but it has an undernote of sweetness that I've never really had in a curry. Odd since most Japanese curry is sweet. But where other curry hints at sweetness, this one it really stands out. It's not like a candy sweetness...it's like a savory sweetness. Like you might get from a BBQ sauce. It's delightful.
Texture - D
The texture isn't very good. The blue curry is like most instant curry, not thick but not thin. Average but the chicken white sauce is horrible. Very runny and watery. When I first poured it out it splashed all over the place. The taste is creamy though.
So overall this is a somewhat average instant curry with an interesting sweetness to it. If your into curry I'd say go for it. More so if you can't handle spice like me. You can find the curry on Candysan and it's currently on sale (I'm not being paid by them FYI...wish I was!). So now might be a good time to try it.
Been fairly busy this month. I finally saved up enough money to buy my computer parts for my new PC, I'll leave the specs down at the bottom. I didn't buy everything though. I still need a new monitor, keyboard and mouse but those can be bought after awhile...I just wanted to get the basic stuff I needed as this computer is just...a clunker. I don't know how it's still running honestly.
Besides that I made a video about some Japanese candy kits I got...Poppin' Cookin' ones. I've always wanted to try them but import fees were insane...well now I can try them because my local Asian market got a bunch of them in! Yay :3
Let's see...oh and I'll have to hold off on making those kits for a month or two...I'm currently on a strict elimination diet which is NOT fun.
Other then that I've been working on taking pictures of my game collection as it stands now and trying to make progress with my new game room. It's slow going. I've really only carried stuff from my bedroom into the game room honestly...I need to do a lot to that room but other things keep getting in the way.
Things to do for game room:
- Figure out shelving
- Get light fixtures
- Put plugin covers on
- Figure out how to block the sun
- Figure out heating/cooling
- Get a TV
- Get a comfortable chair
- Start moving games/consoles in
All of these things need to be done in the order they are on the list. Like, I have to have my shelves built before I put my games on them, and I need the room heated because it gets cold in there and I don't want my games in a cold room...and I also need to figure out how to make that horrible smell go away...the paint on the walls now stinks to high heaven...I'm hoping a new layer of different paint will get rid of the stink.
Anyways enough of that, here's the video of the kits and my PC specs.
